Become a Host Site for Homeless Families
Our Mission
Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley is a non-profit organization with a mission to help homeless families achieve and sustain independence through a community response to homelessness. We work to provide temporary shelter, food, and hospitality to families in need. Our host sites, managed by dedicated volunteers of all faiths, help us achieve this goal.
Become a Host Congregation
Local congregations can help us in our mission to provide shelter to homeless families in Yellowstone Valley. A host congregation team of volunteers may be involved with the following:
Cooking and hosting dinner

Spending the evening with families, talking, tutoring kids or playing games

Sleeping overnight in the congregation

Coordinating children’s crafts & activities

Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week

Setting up and breaking down guest families’ room
Become a Partner Congregation
If your congregation does not have the space or facilities to be able to host families, you can become a partner congregation. Partner congregations work with host congregations and coordinate with them to take on some of the responsibilities for their week in the rotation. A partner congregation team of volunteers may be involved with the following:
Cooking and hosting dinner

Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week
Manageable Commitment
Families stay overnight, not 24 hours a day. Each congregation hosts families for just one week in a rotation with other host and partner congregations. Guests consist of two to four families at a time. Family Promise runs criminal background checks and drug screenings on all program participants. A Family Promise driver transports the families to and from the host facility or the families will transport themselves.
