In 1986, a group in New Jersey recognized the unique issue of family homelessness and began Family Promise. Now there are 200 affiliates in 41 states that utilize over 160,000 volunteers and Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley is one of them.
In 2004 Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley opened its doors located then in the basement of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and working with local congregations, and mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to end family homelessness in the Yellowstone Valley region.
In 2016, Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley made some wonderful changes. We moved into our new Day Center located downtown. This building was completed with community support and love. The new Fortin Family Promise Day Center gives our guest room to heal and grow. Along with the space, FPYV was able to expand its programing to include the Wrap Around and Break the Cycle of Poverty programing, a community diaper bank, and the Partners in Housing program.
In 2017, the community came together once again and donated over $25,000 for FPYV to purchase a new bus to help transport the families. Transportation is vital to the success of the families that we serve.
